Under indirect supervision, performs computerized tomographic examinations

Essential Functions:
-Performs computed tomography studies; positions patients and provides immobilization means and patient counseling as needed; selects technical factors and protocol that will result in optimum imaging for each individual patient; assures correct patient identification as well as technical factors to be superimposed on all images; prepares hard copies from multiformat camera; transfers images to magnetic tape for archival storage; reports equipment malfunctions appropriately
- Receives and properly identifies patient, ascertains preparation procedures are proper and in order; assures safety as well as comfort, physical and psychological needs of all patients throughout entire examination; emphasizes personalized, individualized patient care atmosphere at all times; explains exam in detail at onset
- Provides necessary safety measures with attention to radiation protection; prepares sterile fields, trays and instruments; maintains general order and cleanliness of room assigned; ensures sterility of surgical packs, trays and disposables to be used in assigned area; scrubs or circulates during procedures as required and assists physicians with catheter placement, instrument passage and contract media administration
- Provides other assistance to physician(s) during exam; recognizes and reports patient emergency situations; in absence of nursing personnel, determines vital signs and administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation; maintains intravenous fluids, oxygen and other life support systems; maintains ethical standards and promotes teamwork within work area
- Reviews requisitions, prepares examination schedules and assembles patient's previous records; prepares previous cases for physician review; mounts images on multi-panel viewer according to departmental protocol; accounts for films exposed for each exam; maintains daily records of exams
- As needed, prepares cases for immediate interpretation; understands and accepts responsibilities of direct supervision of student technologists during clinical
- Demonstrates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of specialization
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care and/or service appropriate to age groups served
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service
- In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Two years of successful CT technologist experience
- Associate's degree-graduate of accredited school of radiologic technology
- Valid Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
- Registered Computer Tomography technologist (CT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Current BLS for Health care Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
- Demonstrated skill in core and focused competencies
- Demonstrated skill in IV administration on a routine basis
- Knowledge of Kaiser systems/organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, change management, decision-making, customer service, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, systems thinking, teamwork and written communication
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheet, database and desktop publishing PC application(s):

Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching or training experience
- Documented technical leadership
- Bachelor's degree in allied health care, or related field
