Under general supervision, uses an electrocardiograph to record variations in the action of the heart muscle for use in the diagnosis of heart ailments in an in- or out-patient setting; prepares graphs & reports. Performs various related functions including clerical duties, maintaining equipment & other duties. Responds to emergency situations as required.
Essential Functions:
- Upholds KP's Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws
- Greets patients in a pleasant & professional manner
- Prepares & explains procedures to patient
- Operates EKG equipment
- Applies lead placements to patient
- Prepares EKG tracing for interpretation indicating the required information (age, PF number, telephone number etc
- As requested, responds to all acute emergency situations
- May assist & prepare patients for the following procedures: Holter Hook-Up, Treadmill, & IPG
- Maintains equipment in operating order & notifies supervisor of needed repairs
- Prepares paperwork & EKG for physician interpretation of hospitalized patient
- Maintains files, makes copies of cardiac procedures & assists w/ any other paperwork as required
- Maintains a safe & orderly work area
- Answers telephone & relays messages
- Establishes & maintains courteous & cooperative relations w/ the public, patients & other personnel
- Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications:

Pay Grade: 22


Basic Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved Kaiser Permanente basic EKG training course AND/OR one (1) year of clinical experience as an EKG Tech (within the last three (3) years) in a cardiology department
- Completed course in Basic Arrhythmia Recognition
- Valid BLS card
- Demonstrated ability to recognize cardiac dysrhythmias, artifacts


Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn and perform 'Consistent Messaging and Customer Service behaviors and comply with attendance program'


Notes:
- This is an on call position, days and hours may vary according to departmental need.
- May be required to work rotating weekends.
