Supervises and manages stock and contact lens employees. Purchases and maintains an inventory of frames, lenses, and contact lenses to fill. Controls inventory expenses and maximizes inventory turnover levels. Provides service, and technical and professional support to all Northern California offices. Manages and updates computer data base to insure maximization of stock.
Essential Functions:
- Reviews and purchases frames and lenses to be inventoried.
- Determines quantities of stock to purchase, to replenish optical stock inventory.
- Manages and supervises customer service representatives.
- Develops surveys and detail methods to improve product selection and sales efforts.
- Delivers completed eyewear in a timely manner.
- Manages computer data base by installing software releases; trouble shoot processing problems; and conducts proof testing.
- Networks with the software company to facilitate changes, and implements system upgrades.
- Manages contact lens expediting. Reduces turn around time by focusing on problem areas.
- Follows up on all backorders of frames and lenses to ensure proper delivery of goods.
- Directs all aspects of inventory management including stock monitoring, replenishment, receiving, storage, distribution, processing of returned goods, and accounting to maintain inventory at the most effective levels.
- Coordinates displays for all Northern California optical sales; publishes product information.
- Develops, formulates and publishes prices for all inventoried items for resale.
- Participates in development and evaluation of the optical divisions' yearly goals and objectives.
- Coordinates pricing of inventory and selection of products with the business office, production, marketing, and sales departments to ensure correct dollar pricing.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Significant, usually three (3) - five (5) years of supervisory experience in optical stock and contact lens department.
- Significant, usually three (3) - five (5) years of optical journey experience in selection of frames, lenses, and contact lens for prescription grinding.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Extensive product knowledge.
- Working knowledge of all phases involved in on-the-job training for optical prescription stock clerks.
- Significant knowledge of data processing and general business administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years management in an optical laboratory setting
