This newly created position will be located in either our Bethesda; Maryland or Newark; Delaware office.In this role reporting directly to the VP for Individual Business; you will be accountable for directing and/or overseeing various business operations on behalf of the Individual Business Unit; including but not limited to: a) Health Plan Services ? a third party vendor that handles enrollment and billing for individual product; 2) CSO operations; 3) IT development projects; and 3) Health Care Reform readiness projects. In the role as Director; Operations you will be accountable for the overall direction of multiple business operational areas within a division to meet or exceed business objectives.The ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES of the Director; Operations will be:
- Requires strong background in customer service and/or IT operations as well as significant experience in project management skills.
- Review and direct the performance of operational areas including operational measurement and reporting; and operational improvement which encompasses the implementation of key strategic technology initiatives.
- Develop strategic; operational and tactical business plans to achieve desired business goals for responsible operational areas.
- Provide expert knowledge in the areas of operational information systems design; implementation; and support of claims; telephone; and data warehouse applications and databases.
- Recruit; develop; and motivate staff. Initiate and communicate a variety of personnel actions including employment; termination; performance reviews; salary reviews; and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure areas of responsibility are operating at an optimum level of experience; skill; knowledge and capability.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships and alliances with internal customers to achieve business goals.
- Develop and manage the budget; controls expenses while meeting operational; financial and service requirements.
- Performs other duties as required.The ideal Director; Operations will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- At least seven years? experience in managed health care along with management responsibility.
- Management of strategic operational and technology initiatives preferred.
- Knowledge of operations management and systems development theories.
- Demonstrated leadership and motivation skills.
- Ability to initiate and drive change; demonstrated results-driven approach.
- Demonstrated process and project management ability.
- Ability to develop and implement service strategies for internal and external customers.This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
