Reporting to the Senior Materials Manager for the Franchise Operations Development organization, the primary responsibility of the Injection Molding Process Engineer will be to provide polymer processing and engineering expertise for a range of product and materials within the Vision Care franchise. This individual will also be responsible for identifying and implementing innovative engineering technologies to deliver highly efficient and cost effective processes and equipment to the organization.
Job responsibilities will include: performing planning, development, facilitation of design and development of injection molding equipment and processes; acting as an advocate of disciplined engineering approaches using state-of-the-art methodologies and technologies; providing troubleshooting expertise and resolving injection molding equipment, system, and process problems using strong systematic and statistical methodologies; demonstrating strong leadership and a clearly identifiable work ethic within the team; developing and maintaining a J&J Credo and Leadership Imperatives based work ethic within the organization; ensuring effective closure on Quality Systems documents (Audits Actions, NCR's, CAPA's, Maps, etc) and ensuring all projects are managed in accordance with the Quality Management system and minimizing both the Environmental and Health and Safety effects of the work that is performed.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in either a Mechanical, Material, or Polymer Engineering / Sciences discipline or acceptable related discipline is required; a minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience in Injection Molding Technology is required; demonstrated polymer processing knowledge and process development skills, inclusive of current scientific injection molding principles, is required; experience with computational modeling of polymer flow dynamics is preferred; the ability to manage multiple assignments or projects with sound analytical, systematic development, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills is preferred; Process Excellence or Six Sigma training and/or certification is preferred; prior experience working with vendors and suppliers to find solutions is preferred; prior experience working in a high speed manufacturing environment is preferred. This position may require up to 15% travel both domestic and international and will be based in Jacksonville, Florida.
