The Multislide Operator will set-up and operate Bihler Multislide machines to produce surgical needles of various sizes and types to exacting quality standards and close tolerances. Perform routine process troubleshooting and work with Process Owners/Technicians to solve complex problems. Use and maintain measurement and inspection devices, including microscopes, optical comparators, dial indicators, scales and micrometers. Perform Preventative Maintenance procedures on equipment per the schedule. Complete tooling set-up and changes as required. Utilize Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) system for data entry and monitoring of the process. Utilize the MRP inventory management system for tracking product. Read and work from detailed blueprints to a tolerance of + 0.0001". Perform routine process troubleshooting and work with Process Owners to solve complex problems on Curver and Respool equipment. This individual will be responsible for the set up and operation of the Multislide, PS Curving Equipment, Wire Straightners, Needle Cleaning Equipment, miscellaneous department equipment used in the manufacture of needle blanks. Perform heat treatment of surgical products.
The Multislide Operator will also perform other work related duties as assigned by supervisor/facilitator. Follow current compliance regulations and standards that comply with all federal regulated programs. Support Plant Diversity Process. Ensure safe working conditions and practices in the department. Support Ethicon Production System (EPS) by identifying, evaluating and resolving problems. Understands and adheres to Ethicon Production System (EPS) Principles and Rules.
Qualifications
A minimum of a High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. A minimum of 2 years of manufacturing mechanical experience is required. A minimum of 1 year of vocational, military, or equivalent technical training in basic electrical/electronics, mechanics, and/or mathematics is required. A minimum of 1 year of experience in one or more of the following areas is required: mechanics, stamping, tool and die, machining, punch press operation. Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or other regulated environment is preferred. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills. Must have good statistical and analytical problem solving skills. Basic math skills, with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute percentages and work with decimals and fractions, required. Must have the ability to use the following measurement and inspection devices: microscopes, optical comparators, dial indicators, scales, micrometers. Basic computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred. Knowledge of inventory management systems (i.e. JDE, MRP) preferred. The ability to read and understand blueprints is preferred. Electrical skills preferred. Must have the ability to work with minimal technical supervision. Must be able to work rotating 12 hour night shifts (D Shift) (7:00 pm - 7:00 am), which will include alternating weekends. The ability to work occasional overtime and some holidays is required.
