Will Statement
Will: Be a member of the Systems and Data Engineering Group and will report to the Group Supervisor. Will be responsible for the Engineering and Architecture of a High Availability Xmatters Platform. Will implement custom integration modules, patching and testing of the system. Will consult with project managers and system engineers regarding monitoring best practices and implementation recommendations. Will set policy for configuration management of the system. Will work closely with the vendor when needed to solve problems and maintain a state-of-the art platform.
Designs, develops, and/or modifies Enterprise applications for highly complex or specialized operations within Enterprise level software systems. Utilizes extensive Enterprise expertise to understand the needs of the customer, translates needs into requirements, develops prototype applications, iterates with customers and then delivers quality applications. Involved in entire life-cycle of system, including planning, development, deployment and maintenance. Responsible for understanding and meeting software operational and engineering requirements.

• Interactions normally involve advising management on extremely complex and significant issues.
• Advises and consults with management or equivalent within and outside own organization.
• Represents JPL through regular interface with representatives of organizations outside JPL.
• Continual involvement and participation with industry partners and other NASA centers.
Skills
Required Skills:
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in in Computer Science or related discipline or related discipline with a minimum of 9 years of related experience; Masters degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or PhD in similar disciplines with a minimum of 5 years related experience.
• Extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in systems and applications monitoring and alert notification.
• Extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in notification integration with JPL systems and commercial telephony.
• Extensive understanding of high availability system architecture and implementation.
• Extensive understanding and direct experience with xMatters/AlarmPoint Enterprise notification system and interfaces.
• Experienced in writing scripts in C-shell and Bourne Shell.
• Experienced in Perl.
Desired Skills:
• Complete knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies and procedures, and government regulations across a range of applications.
• Experience with NetIQ Web Response Time Module.
• Experience with NetIQ monitors.
