Position Highlights:
The Chicago Breast Cancer Quality Consortium is a project of the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force. The Consortium is a voluntary association of health care providers, health care institutions, and community organizations, who collect quality data on breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment. It is the only Patient Safety Organization (PSO) dedicated specifically to breast care and is the one of the first projects in the nation to address health disparities through quality improvement. The Consortium provides confidential site specific reports to member institutions, which highlights their performance on specific quality measures and provides an aggregate comparison to other institutions. In addition to collecting and analyzing data, we assist member health care providers with quality improvement by providing training, and working with staff to develop and implement process improvement strategies. Consortium projects to date focus on meeting quality standards for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment while improving systems of referral to facilitate the timely care of individual women with breast cancer. Recently, the Consortium has gone statewide and has also contracted with the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium (a national organization) on a longitudinal breast cancer study. We seek a Sr. Data Coordinator to be responsible for the growing data needs of the Consortium and to assist with organizational evaluation
Position Responsibilities:
Data Management and Research
Supports data collection of quality measures related to breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and primary care.
Manages and analyzes data for the purposes of reporting, meetings, presentations and quality improvement.
Designs, manages and evaluates study protocols and health status questionnaires.
Provides statistical analysis of current data
Request and analyze external data sets including state and federal level health data
Supervise Staff/Fellows
Project Management
Develops project plans and timelines
Leads coordination and execution of project tasks
Reports on project outcomes where appropriate
Grant writing
Position Qualifications Include:
The ideal candidate will have experience in epidemiology and/or data analysis
Masters degree or higher in Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or a related field and 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ability to understand data, interpret evidence and work consistently with evaluation is an essential ingredient of the job; experience using SAS / STATA with proven facility for manipulating large longitudinal data sets using SAS
Experience in database design and structure and Cancer Registry data; ability to communicate with all levels of personnel; experience in the field of breast cancer. preferred
Strong analytical skills. Ability to understand, interpret and manage data and evaluate progress.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrates a willingness to work as part of a team and establish effective working relationships with others throughout the organization and with key external collaborators. Participates in a collaborative/cooperative manner to achieve organizational goals. Seeks opportunities to share information, knowledge and expertise to enhance organizational effectiveness.
