Responsible for leading the Baltimore Sales and Account Management teams to increase membership growth from new business opportunities while retaining and growing enrollment within existing groups.
Essential Functions:
- Leads and provides strategic direction and context to the Sales and Account Management teams.
- Anticipates key business, marketplace and competitor dynamics and develops and implements strategies that ensure growth and mitigate adverse risk.
- Provides role modeling, coaching and mentoring to Sales Executives & Account Managers.
- Provides feedback on individual performance.
- Works with team to identify and qualify prospects in Baltimore region and builds relationships w/ brokers and consultants to drive sales in the Baltimore region groups through heavy outside contact.
- Monitors and reports performance against channel metrics (i.e. results, new sales, profitability, retention and costs, penetration and predicted demographics.) and reports to management.
- Ensures that team creates/fills pipeline w/ qualified prospects and uses underwriting guidelines to assess viability.
- Is accountable for membership retention and growth over employer group business segment.
- Develops and implements a sales strategy and identifies issues to brought forth to leadership for resolution.
- Develops rate strategy for new and existing groups.
- Initiates activities and collaborates with other Health Plan departments and MAPMG to ensure customer needs are met.
- Ensures that the teams operations and business practices are conducted in a manner that is in compliance with KP and regulatory requirements for all applicable jurisdictions.
- Continuously improves tools and processes to maximize sales and account management effectiveness.
- Serves as primary liaison to Program Office functions related to account management and contributes frequently to national sales and account management initiatives.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Six (6) years of experience in sales, marketing, business development, and/or account management, with at least three (3) years of management experience in these areas.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, finance, business administration, or equivalent experience required.
- Appropriate Life & Health Insurance license in applicable jurisdiction (s) required or w/in 120 days of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MHA, MPH, or MBA preferred.
