Qualifications
Required skills/experience:
  • Deep knowledge of several programming/scripting/stats languages including functional and object-oriented languages
  • Intimate familiarity with the JVM
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage relational and NoSQL data models
  • Degree in Computer Engineering or related field and 5+ years experience developing enterprise software
  • Experience on big data platform development and architecture 
  • Exposure to bioinformatics tools
  • Experience working with scientists to translates their needs into software solutions
  • Knowledgeable in software engineering practices such as requirements management, configuration management, acceptance testing, review process, release management, support, and maintenance
  • Experience in managing multiple projects with rapidly shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to become the de facto thought leader in a group of developer peers
  • Experience developing software on a dynamic team utilizing agile methodologies, version control, test-driven development, and continuous integration
Desired skills/experience:
  • Expertise with Scala and Java
  • Familiarity with how the JVM manages memory and threads
  • Understanding of high throughput sequencing, genomics, and computational biology
