Janssen R&D is searching for

a Packaging Engineer

for their Beerse, Belgium facility.

- Function as technical team leader for the Packaging Device and Delivery group within Drug Product Development/Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing Science organization.
- Provide technical leadership in the development and commercialization of medical devices and container/closure systems with, if applicable, auxiliaries for dosing/reconstitution for new drug products and modifications to marketed products in a global environment (life cycle management). Identify, evaluate, develop and qualify new packaging and/or device concepts for eventual production use.
- Responsibilities include container closure systems, medical devices and design control processes for combination products including functionality testing and human factors.
- Provide guidance to clinical packaging and other functions regarding primary packaging and delivery options.
- Maintain ownership of primary packaging and device specifications and author pertinent sections of worldwide Regulatory Filings.

Qualifications


- Minimum Requirements: M.S. with 8 years, BA/BS with 12 years or PhD with 0-3 years experience in packaging engineering in a pharmaceutical, medical device, or FDA regulated industry. Degree in (Packaging) Engineering, Chemical Materials Science, Polymer Science or similar emphasis.
- Experience in the design, development, and commercialization of medical packaging systems with significant emphasis on injectable dosage forms and/or medical devices (eg inhalers).
- Familiarity with worldwide regulations to support container development and development of combination products is required.
- Knowledge of QbD (Quality by Design) and customer value principles including patient centric design is a plus.
- Must be effective communicator in team environment with strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to interface effectively with research, operations, and external suppliers and manufacturers.
- Technical Leadership is required. Ability to influence decisions.
- Travel up to 25% both domestic and international is required.
