The Director, Sales Training and Development will manage the development and implementation of the sales training programs. He/she will be responsible for the daily operation and performance of Sales Training and Development Department in support of a multi-product, 400+ sales force with a budget of $2 MM. This individual will provide expertise and guidance to sales leadership on the establishment of training priorities for both long term and short term objectives. This position has a great degree of impact on the business results and is responsible for a team comprised of: Instructional Designers and Sales Program Leads with deep selling expertise.

This role will oversee daily activities of the sales training and development department, manages and develops sales training staff. This position has expertise in the principles of adult learning theory and evidence-based teaching and must be skilled in the creation of curriculum to close competency gaps. He/she will establish, implement, and direct sales training programs to ensure the maximum effectiveness of the organization's sales effort. The Director will ensure that field training initiatives are focused on growth of the business. He/she will develop training plans and programs to continuously upgrade the skills of all levels within the sales organization including management and leadership development. The incumbent will oversee the development and delivery of training programs and materials. This role will provide guidance to Sales leadership to ensure newly learned skills application on the job and continuous improvement for performance development. The position will monitors functional budget and prepares annual business plan for Sales Training and Development. He/she will provide ongoing internal consulting on key business initiatives and training solutions. The role will lead sales management team in defining sales direction and measuring and reinforcing successful sales execution. It will partner closely with marketing organization to ensure collateral materials are in sync with the strategic direction. This individual will support the development and delivery of POA sales meetings and ensures that training goals are achieved and aligned to the business strategy to drive growth in sales.

This position will oversee the strategic direction of training and development best practices for base business, new product launches and identifying and defining a long term plan to improve multiple strategic processes. This role will develop partnerships across multiple J&J and health care industry companies to identify best practices for strategic people development. The Director will oversee the gathering of competitive intelligence and incorporation of knowledge into training the sales force in the area of competitive selling. This role also oversees the Sales Leadership Development Program to build a pipeline of sales leaders early in career. He/she will set strategic direction for the development and implementation of the sales training programs. This person will provides expertise and guidance to sales leadership on the establishment of training priorities. The Director will leads daily activities of the sales training department and develop curriculum to close competency gaps utilizing expertise in adult learning principles and evidence based teaching.

He/she will provide guidance and expertise to Sales Leadership on key business initiatives and training solutions. The Director will partners closely with Marketing to define sales direction and measure and reinforce successful sales execution. This person must be able to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization. He/she will be respected as "voice of field sales" to internal teams. This role will speak with authority on customer issues to ensure their needs are represented in all business plans, training programs and materials used in the field. The incumbent will be responsible for development and growth of staff of Manager level employees in Sales Training and Development and Special Programs - SLDP, POA, and Competitive Intelligence.

This person will oversees the Sales Leadership Development program to build a pipeline of early in career sales talent. He/she will supports development and delivery of POA sales meetings and ensures that training goals are achieved and aligned to the business strategy to drive growth. This person will oversees the gathering of competitive intelligence and its incorporation into training strategy aimed at skill building of selling competitively. This person will be in charge of Fiscal Management and be responsible for forecasting and managing annual training budget.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelors Degree is required. A Masters degree focused in Learning & Development, Organizational Leadership, Instructional Design or Business is highly desired. A minimum of 8 years Learning and development experience is required. A minimum 5 years sales experience (or supporting a sales organization) with proven record of success preferred. At least 3 years of Sales Training experience including managing training staff/department is required. Demonstrated expeirence in developing and managing people is required. Thorough knowledge of sales training principles is required Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills is required. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to think innnovatively is required. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills is required. This person must thrive in complex environment and be able to multi-task and prioritize. There will require up to 30% domestic travel. The role is based in Milipitas, CA.
