Rush University Medical Center presents an opportunity for a Physician Assistant in Vascular Surgery. The Physician Assistant provides high quality, comprehensive care for patients and coordinates the provision of clinical care for patients pre and post-surgery. He/she acts as the liaison between the physician(s), floor nursing staff, residents, fellows, and other nursing staff to ensure continuity and quality of care. The Physician Assistant is accessible to patients as a point of contact for on-going clinical issues and for updates for the family during the peri-operative phase.

Further Position Highlights:

  • Work in the inpatient setting, assisting all physicians in surgical procedures and care in the operating room and surgical intensive care unit.

  • Meet with surgery patients and families pre-operatively to provide them with an opportunity to discuss questions; provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans.

  • Coordinate care plans amongst various inpatient providers, including discharge plans for each patient.

  • Maintain current knowledge of all research trials being conducted and participate as necessary.

  • Enjoy working in a collaborative atmosphere with a growing team.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies required.

  • Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant license required.

  • 1+ years of experience highly preferred.

  • Well balanced and developed clinical assessment skills.

  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with physicians, residents, nurses, administrative managers, and support staff, thereby creating a cohesive and well-developed team.
