Provide IP Physical Therapy treatment at the SDMC PT/OT facility. Responsibilities include provision of care under the supervision and direction of a physical therapist to a varied patient population including CVA, Parkinson's, post-op surgical and trauma rehab. Physical therapy services are provided in accordance with department policies and procedures, applicable regulatory body standards, and parameters set by referring physicians.Under indirect supervision, assists the Registered Physical Therapist in the execution of patient treatment care as established by the Registered Physical Therapist. Assists w/ the training of Physical Therapy Assistant Students, Physical Therapy Aides & other health care professionals.
Essential Functions:
- Upholds KP's Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws
- Interprets & administers patient treatment care as established by the Registered Physical Therapist; performs & instructs patients in routine & complex therapy exercises
- Administers physical therapy treatment program to patients w/ a variety of medical disabilities
- Observes patient's treatment care, complies & evaluates responses to treatment , documents treatment plan according to standard procedures; adjust patient treatment program as conditions warrant, within guideline limitations
- Assists w/ the training of Physical Therapy Assistant Students, Physical Therapy Aides & other health care professionals; may assist Registered Physical Therapist w/ in-service training programs & patient care classes as required
- Ensures cleanliness of assigned areas & proper functioning of patient care equipment by visual inspection, routine testing of prescribed procedures to provide a therapeutic & safe environment for patients & staff; reports any problems to Registered Physical Therapists
- Establishes & maintains courteous, cooperative relations w/ the public, patients & other personnel
- Performs other related duties as required
- Assume other activities & responsibilities from time to time as directed

Qualifications:

Notes:
-This is an On-call position, schedule varies
-Position will include weekend shift
- Will work atSan Diego Service area locations
- Position may require some weekend IP or OP coverage dependent on referral demands.
- Position requires oversight of support staff, both clinical and non-clinical, daily documentation, care planning, and treatment progression under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist.

Basic Qualifications:
- PTA License issued by the State of CA
-Graduate of an approved program & certified by the State of California
- Ability to safely use required equipment
- Any others tasks as assigned
- Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- CPR certificate
- Previous experience in IP rehab
- Completion of PTA student education program with at least one (1) internship in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting
- Ability to utilize various treatment techniques and a background built on patient / family education
- PC skills
- Knowledge of Maitland, McKenzie, Mulligan background a plus
