The department:

The Microbiology department plays an essential role in the testing of pharmaceutical grade raw materials, the in process testing and release testing of the drug products produced in our Leiden facility. Testing is also performed for other sites of the Janssen Supply Chain. All pharmaceutical microbiology testing is performed under GMP regulations.

Responsibilities:

As (Sr.) Scientist/Specialist you are responsible for the validation and troubleshooting of current and new microbiological methods. You are considered the expert for the methods applied at the microbiology department. In that role you participate actively in regulatory audits and inspections. Methods used by the microbiology department include: Bioburden limit testing, Sterility testing, Environmental Monitoring and DNA Sequencing.

An important driver is cost effectiveness. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing cost effective processes. This can vary from modifications of the current operations to the implementation of new technologies and data infrastructure. Another field of focus will be troubleshooting of test methods and production processes. In order to perform these tasks you will be intensively trained in Process Excellence methodologies.

Kwalificaties
- Education at academic level, specialized in Microbiology or related discipline with a strong background in Microbiology;
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience;
- Outstanding knowledge of and hand-on experience with validation of methods and equipment in an GMP environment;
- Experience with Microbiology related troubleshooting in a Pharmaceutical environment;
- Ability to lead project teams;
- Excellent communicator;
- A proactive team player;
