JOB SUMMARY
M3SW is a 22 bed observation unit with 6 designated chest
pain unit beds opened on December 1, 2010. Currentaverage daily census is 12. Our average length of stay 24hours. Admissions to the unit are arranged with thedesignated charge nurse who makes assignments based onpatient acuity and condition, knowledge and skill level of thecaregivers, technology required, degree and availability ofsupervision, infection control and safety issues, and
geographic location on the unit.The Patient Care Assistant demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for age specific populations. He/She performs delegated patient care tasks under the supervision of a licensed nurse. He/she records data established by policy and procedure, and reports observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse. The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for assigned non-nursing functions. The Patient Care Assistant practices Relationship Centered Care in concert with The Methodist Hospital values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence and ServicePride standards.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or its equivalent is required


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience or basic Nursing Assistant course is preferred
RN experience in non-USA country in lieu of PCA experience is acceptable.
Nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program that has successfully completed at least one clinical rotation.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
Basic CPR
Current Certified Nurse Aide/Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
or 3 Years Hospital/Acute Care Patient Care Assistant Experience
