Role:
Provide leadership to cross functional teams in the evaluation, design and integration of client facing applications into the TD Ameritrade environment. Prepare status and informational reports for presentation to senior management. Provide expert level complex, high-level technical support for the applications and carry out complex assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures. Develop documentation and standards for use by the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Database & Middleware Design and Standards Development
- Strategic design, enhancement, for enterprise applications supporting trading and client services
- Proactively integrate tactical & strategic business initiatives with TDA enterprise environment
- Guide the growth and strategic planning of the TDA application infrastructure
- Develop standards and deployment methodologies
- Research, evaluate and test new technologies
- Propose, design, and implement enhancements and additions to current environment
- Develop application maintenance standards and procedures
- Prepare / Assist in preparing business cases and price cost estimates for Application Engineering projects
- Mentor fellow engineers on technical issues, standards and procedures
- Continuous Improvement
- Assist in the growth and strategic planning of database & middleware technology solutions
- Manage continuous improvement of engineering, delivery, and operational practices
- Assist in developing the tech lifecycle strategy and procurement strategies
- Assist in developing engineering and operational service metrics with actionable plans to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality/SLA, and optimize delivery
- Projects
- Generate project plans and subsequent progress reports (including appropriate size, timeframe, and technical requirements)
- Coordinate all required project resources for on-time/on-budget fulfillment of project goals
- Changes, Maintenance and Support
- Responsible for establishing procedures & systems to mitigate risk
- Assist in testing and monitoring systems changes implemented by the organization including changes to database and middleware
- 3rd-level troubleshooting for enterprise applications supporting trading and client services
- Perform implementation, maintenance, remediation, and troubleshooting services for enterprise applications supporting trading and client service
- Compliance
- Ensures compliance with established industry rules, regulations and best practices
- Ensure compliance with TD Ameritrade policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years of related experience
- Experience in the brokerage industry/financial background is a plus
- Experience with Six-Sigma, LEAN, & ITIL concepts is a plus
- Experience supporting medium-to-large sized projects
- End-to-end understanding of systems development life cycle methodology
- Demonstrates a strong understanding product lifecycles as well as how technical systems work and interact
- Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of all critical Production Support processes
- Must possess excellent quantitative and analytical skills with practical application

- Must demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate, and develop associates
- Must be extremely flexible due to the changing priority of project initiatives
- Must possess superior interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
- Must have great attention to detail in planning and documentation
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
