Under general supervision, manages communications programs. Serves as regional communications consultant for project teams and committees. Develops effective communications strategies that impact annual membership growth and retention. Integrates communications programs with all ongoing brand marketing, regional sales and marketing, product development and public relations programs. Tracks all assigned budgets to target or within approved variances, ensuring that all communications tactics reflect the most cost-effective and efficient use of resources. Coordinates closely with all internal and external stakeholders touched by regional communications planning and execution. Supports compliance and Principles of Responsibility. Maintains confidentiality. Protects organizational assets. Exhibits ethics and integrity. Adheres to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing requirements, policies and procedures. Reports and/or resolves issues of non-compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Manages communications programs. Identifies key communications needs and challenges. Supervises the effective writing, designing, and presentation of communication tools to support group objectives. Composes audience-specific communication rollouts. Recommends effective means of rollouts facilitation
- Serves as communications consultant to staff and physicians. Assimilates and translates clinical and technical information for key audiences
- Monitors , assesses, and analyzes the effectiveness of communication to customers, members, and other target audiences
- Consults with internal and external audiences about brand identity compliance. Seeks to enhance organizational image and reputation
- Collaborates with colleagues in other Kaiser Permanente regions. Maintains current knowledge of skill building programs. Leverages programs as appropriate
- Supervises and directs outside vendors to ensure effective execution of Kaiser Permanente communications programs
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service
- Adheres to and maintains current knowledge of Principles of Responsibility, applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation and licensing requirements, policies and procedures. Reports and/or resolves issues of non-compliance

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Three years of communications, journalism, marketing communications or related experience
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to manage
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, influence, creativity/innovation, decision making, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, project management, quality management, systems thinking, teamwork, written communication, and consultation
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone
- Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English
- Training/giving and receiving instructions
- Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g., organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration and alertness
Preferred Qualifications:
- Consultant experience
- Health care experience to include knowledge of medical and regulatory terminology
- Master's degree in related field
