Sales Analyst III - National Sales & Account Management

Summary:
The analyst provides detailed analysis and reporting to enable successful execution of Sales & Account Management business line strategies. The position requires utilization of data and systems, combining automated analytical techniques and qualitative methods in order to provide business users with critical insight about sales activities, market trends, customers and partners. The successful analyst understands the organization's mission and functions, how its social, political, and technological systems work, and operates effectively within them.
Essential Functions:
- Develops, quantifies & evaluates the transformation of internal & external information into business intelligence to support the strategic objectives of Kaiser Permanente Sales & Account Management & drive operational excellence. This includes data & technology management (data acquisition, mining, analysis, data integrity management, metrics management & reporting).
- Uses research & analysis to support resolution of business issues & opportunities:
- Draws on broad experience to identify & interpret problems & opportunities.
- Articulates the pros & cons of several analytic frameworks/methodologies.
- Maintains overall accountability for project implementation.
- Reviews, coaches, & refines work of a Level I & II.
- Determines & defines appropriate business metrics.
- Maintains overall accountability for operational performance.
- Provides intricate data analysis through the application of summary statistical methods. (e.g., Pareto charts, Time-Series analysis, Multiple-Regression analysis)
- Analyzes & interprets trends in data & provides actionable conclusions & recommendations to help management & leadership drive business results.
- Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data or other information; Analyzes information & makes correct inferences or accurate conclusions.
- Anticipates, identifies, & diagnoses problems or gaps in data, data sources, or processes; determines accuracy & relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate & evaluate alternatives; selects from alternative courses of action, makes recommendations, & takes action from developed contingency plans.
- Utilizes knowledge of applicable analytical techniques, tools & principles to execute effective sales data management & reporting.
- Articulates & clarifies parameters of the business issue to be solved.
- Develops training materials.
- Develops, improves & maintains internal business systems & processes:
- Serves as a resource content expert consistent w/ overall role.
- Serves as problem-solving resource to project team.
- Oversees workgroup to identify impact of proposed changes to existing systems & processes.
- Supports stakeholder group in presenting recommendations & business impact to senior leadership.
- Maintains overall accountability for design & implementation of application systems & tools/reports.
- Demonstrates & executes on knowledge & understanding of relevant business processes (both organization & function-specific) at various levels to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Integrates data across disparate business systems & develops common reporting metrics.
- Designs & maintains sophisticated databases, queries, & reports to track operational performance w/out supervision. (e.g., SQL & VBA code, Excel pivot tables, advanced Access, SAS, etc.).
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Six (6) - seven (7) years of experience in a data analysis, consulting, report building, software or business support function.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, in health care administration, business administration, computer science or related field required.
- Masters' degree preferred.
- Experience with Salesforce.com and or SalesConnect required.
- Demonstrates solid analytical skills, organization, collaborative teamwork skills, initiative and innovation/creativity.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct, interpret and present quantitative/qualitative analysis.
- Must demonstrate effective communication, consulting, interpersonal and presentations skills.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of the following applications (or equivalents): advanced syntax, HTML, ODS, SQL, Visio, Business Objects, and account management-specific data-mining and geo-targeting software, as well as knowledge of highly-specialized or ad- hoc data analytical services.
- Must demonstrate self- motivation, detail-orientation, and ability to work in an individual and collaborative, fast-paced Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Understanding of major aspects of health plan operations: Sales and Account Management strategy and execution protocols, Underwriting cycle, Product Development, Consultative Selling Techniques, Management reporting, and Customer Service.
- Excellent in-depth knowledge of KP organization, values, pricing, products and business systems.
