To administer basic life support (BLS) classes for Kaiser Permanente Northwest in both BLS and ACLS class settings. To implement and monitor standards and practices relating to employees' BLS response to Kaiser Permanente members.
Essential Functions:
- Administers or delivers BLS curriculum and supporting processes that facilitate the learning of the participants either in a small group or large group setting.
- Assesses learning needs and barriers of participants and adjusts class or individual presentation to meet needs of individual and/or group
- Utilizes instructional support materials provided by the CTC (Community Training Center)
- Arranges classroom or space to encourage group or individual participation, and returns to its original condition when class is completed.
- Provides and maintain group safety, confidentiality, and infection control standards.
- Provides necessary 1:1 supportive coaching for participants within AHA performance standards.
- Evaluates and documents participant's progress in meeting performance standards of AHA.
- Promptly completes class and participant documentation per AHA and Kaiser Permanente policy, CTC guidelines, and education department's requirements.
- Promptly returns excess class materials, evaluations and participant documentation to the CTC.
- Communicates to Lead Life Support Instructor or CTC program the class status and card issues
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 1 year professional experience
- Conducted a minimum of 5 BLS classes within the last year or 1 year of large group instructional settings.
- Prior experience with troubleshooting audiovisual equipment
- High school diploma or GED
- BLS at Instructor Level and qualified to meet Instructor Trainer Requirements
- Anatomy/Physiology of the cardiopulmonary system, health prevention/promotion, Adult learning theories, interpersonal behavior and communication skills.
- Facilitation skills for group process and dynamics.
- Teaching the adult learner and managing the classroom
- Planning and managing courses and deadlines
- Effective communication skills for coaching and giving supportive feedback.
- Establishing positive relationships
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
Preferred Qualifications:
- Acute care or ambulatory healthcare experience in the last 2 years
- Experience in education, nursing or related field.
- Current AHA BLS Instructor status
- Working knowledge of audiovisual and related equipment use and maintenance.
- Proficient skills in word processing and/or desktop publishing
Salary Range: $20.81 - $33.22
