Provides cosmetic services under the direction/supervision of a physician. Markets and promotes recommended skin care products to cosmetic patients/customers.
Essential Functions:
- Provides cosmetic services within the scope of their certification.
- Recommends skin care products and treatments appropriately and closely monitors patients/clients during and after treatment.
- May prepare patients before/after procedures.
- Maintains hygienic patient care area consistent with medical office standards.
- Relays appropriate information to physicians within their scope of practice.
- Markets and promotes recommended skin care products and services to patients/clients in the medical clinic or at external events as required.
- Educates patients/clients on use of recommended skin care products and provides appropriate written literature.
- Follows up with patients/clients as directed.
- Accountable for inventory management of skin care products and supplies for the department.
- Maintains inventory of written literature and brochures and may be responsible for replenishing these materials in physician offices and other areas in the medical center.
- Maintains professional relationships with approved vendors and suppliers in accordance with the Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility and any local vendor policies.
- Schedules appointments and maintains a cosmetic/provider schedule of patients/clients.
- Collects fees for services. Assists with tracking expenditures and revenue for the department.
- Serves as a resource for skin care and skin care product knowledge for the cosmetic services department. Charts/documents in the electronic medical record and other information systems as required.
- Must have and maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance.
- Must demonstrate good attendance and punctuality, accountable to scheduled hours.
- Able to work independently and be a self-starter.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience as an esthetician of a minimum of 1,000 hours per year in the last two years and performed in a medical setting at least one of these years required.
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Graduate of an approved Cosmetology School program.
- Current cosmetologist/Esthetician California Certification required.
- 35 words per minute.
- Demonstrated marketing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients/customers, co-workers, physicians, and vendors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of skin, common skin care concerns, and skin care product ingredients and appropriate use and application.
- Ability to instruct and train patients/clients and support staff on the application of skin care products and their use.
- Prior experience with sales, cash handling, and inventory management required.
- Knowledge of computers and booking/scheduling systems.
- Demonstrated excellent customer service orientation.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Skills testing: Typing (35WPM)
