Provides guidance and assistance to staff performing ultrasound examinations and other related technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares work schedules to assure that staff are available for patient appointments.
- Assures that staff explains ultrasound procedures or other examination technologies to patients.
- Provides training and guidance to assure that equipment is properly and safely operated.
- Assists staff to confirm that images meet requirements of radiologists.
- Makes arrangements for contractor maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Orders equipment, film, and supplies and assures that inventories are properly managed.
- Assures that patient information files are prepared and filed correctly.
- Reviews and submits reports showing the number and type of examinations conducted by the department.
- Performs duties as a Diagnostic Medical Sonagrapher as required.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience as a Sonographer required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an ARDMS accredited program or equivalent in ultrasound technology required.
- Certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in adomen and/or ob/gyn required.
- CPR certification required.
- Must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
- Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.
- Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
- Knowledge of customer focused service requirements of the organization.
- Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with members and coworkers.
- Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
- In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, and see.
- Required to stand, push, pull and lift patients.
- May be required to lift heavier then 50 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills, walk and stand for prolonged periods, see objects closely and hear normal sounds with some background noises.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Additional certifications such as breast or vascular.
