The Materiel Coordinator serves as adjunct to nursing management in the annual planning, daily management and ongoing monitoring of the non-salary expense budget and capital budget for the ACS or Medical Center, which includes the coordination and provision for supplies and equipment that enable patient care in the ASC or Medical Center and establishing and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for the staff and patients. Competency is evidenced by communicating regarding supply availability, equipment availability, maintenance and environmental safety. Communication skills are inherent in all these activities.
Essential Functions:
- Is responsible for assuring the presence of all supplies needed to accomplish patient care in a timely manner.
- Participates in the budget planning process for capital budget and maintains all documentation.
- Researches product information and meets with vendors to set up evaluations.
- Streamline supplies in the closets to maximize space and decrease budget.
- This includes rearranging supplies in the closets to meet the daily needs of the departments.
- Creates RAP sheets for all departments in synchronization of the supply closets.
- Is responsible for assuring the presence of all equipment needed to accomplish patient care.
- Participates in quarterly safety inspections in the ASC or Medical Center and has a working knowledge of all regulations that pertain to environmental safety and initiates actions that support these standards.
- Fills in for the Facility Service Supervisor in their absence.
- Reviews Supply Expense Report and rectifies any discrepancies and provides variance explanations.
- Assures compliance with National contracts and monitors utilization of supplies.
- Initiates service and repair calls for clinical equipment.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience in inventory/supply background required.
- High school or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Able to lift weights up to 60 pounds and move or carry operating room equipment such as operating room tables, microscopes, lasers and electrosurgical units.
- Ability to tolerate repeated bending, stooping, walking, pushing and pulling movements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and / or two (2) years of experience as an OR Technician or a related area preferred.
- Associate degree in Business or Health Care related preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical services, supplies and inventory preferred.
- Personal computer knowledge / skills preferred.
