Provide high quality health care to Kaiser Permanente members in a cost Effective manner and in accordance with accepted professional practice standards.

Essential Functions:
- Provide high quality health care through direct assessment, diagnosis and formulation/implementation of treatment plan for mental health patients (may include treatment of psychosis, depression, anxiety, etc.)
- Document in writing all care in patient's permanent medical record in accordance with accepted medical/legal standards
- Provide all treatment in accordance with accepted practice standards, hospital/clinic protocols (including supervision by a physician), and state licensing guidelines
- Provide case management through appropriate triaging and referrals, consultation with other providers, telephone contact with patients and their families, and contact with outside agencies
- Perform other duties as requested
- Evaluates and diagnoses KPNW members referred to the Pain Management Department related to chronic pain disorders and mental health disorders including substance use disorders, personality disorders, and other Axis I and Axis II disorders
- Administers and evaluates psychosocial and neuropsychological tests on a limited basis
- Develops and implements, in coordination with other KPNW clinicians a comprehensive treatment and behavioral management plans for complex chronic pain patients with multiple co-morbid medical and mental health conditions including personality disorders and substance use disorders
- Provide direct psychosocial services to patients and guidance to clinical staff regarding patient management and treatment planning for patients to include: crisis intervention, behavioral management strategies, brief psychotherapy (individual and group), psycho-education (individual and group), and case management
- Prepares concise documentation of intake evaluations, including summary of assessment and instruments and diagnostic criteria
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years experience working with multi-disciplinary treatment team in a chronic pain, mental health or addiction clinical setting
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the area of chronic pain to include diagnostic evaluation, crisis intervention, brief individual and group psychotherapy, and consultation and collaboration with medical personnel
- Minimum of 1 year experience facilitating group therapy sessions
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with a patient population of which at least 30% of patients had chronic pain and substance use disorder and a least one additional Axis I or Axis II disorder
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with a population of which at least 30% of patients had a diagnosed personality disorder
- Doctoral degree required (Ph.D., Psy. D., D.S.W.)
- State licensure
- NPI
- Basic computer skills with word processing and spreadsheets
- Thorough and working knowledge of brief therapy techniques and principles, individual and group therapy techniques and principles, and child and adult techniques and principles
- Working knowledge of legal requirements for confidentiality, child abuse, homicidal threats and psychiatric hospitalization reporting
- Ability to assess, diagnose and treat child and adult mental health patients
- Individual, couple, family and group therapy skills required
- Ability to use appropriate procedural/testing equipment, to see large volume of patients, and to interface with large provider and support staff
- Successful completion of Pain Fellowship training program

Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience working with multi-disciplinary treatment team in a chronic pain, mental health or addiction clinical setting preferred
- Familiarity with psychopharmacology and medical terminology strongly preferred
- Formal Addiction Medicine training preferred
- Experience with use of EMR preferred

Note: This position is primarily based at West Interstate Medical Office and will support other facilities throughout the region as needed.

Salary Range:
$38.46 - $58.48
