This position is responsible for promoting adaptive recreation programs with patients at Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center in addition to leading the department volunteer program and collaborating on educational programs.
Essential Functions:
- Consultation with PT, OT, Social Services, and Nurse Educators in the following areas:
- Adaptive equipment for the rehab center
- Adaptive equipment for home use
- Wheelchair exercises for upper body strengthening
- Environmental modifications
- Local resources for adaptive PE, recreation, support groups
- Develop and manage rehabilitation volunteer programs to promote community reintegration
- Production of educational programs
- Manage projects to update videotapes for patient/family (and staff) education related to disability and sports.
- Requires conducting needs assessments, writing scripts obtaining funding, and working with producer and participants.
Secondary Functions:
- Successful candidate will provide exercise physiology expertise to allow department to implement fee-for-service 'Body Fit Services' service line for a six-month period to allow for feasibility assessment for this program offering.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in adapted physical education program.
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in physical education, kinesiology or related field .
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service.
- Retail experience desirable.
- Strong computer skills needed
