The Pharmacy Outcomes Leader functions as a Health Economics and Outcomes Researcher. In this capacity the individual will work closely with other researchers, analysts, statisticians, and programmers in the Pharmacy Analytical Research Group. In addition, the individual will be expected to initiate and collaborate on research studies with outside researchers including those from academic institutions, federal agencies and industry. Candidates will be responsible for designing, developing and directing strategic research initiatives that are consistent with institutional, state and national health care priorities.
Essential Functions:
- The Pharmacy Outcomes Leader will serve as a principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple concurrent studies.
- Daily activities include the direct supervision of research staff (project managers, research associates, statisticians and programmers) to meet study timelines and milestones.
- The individual will be responsible for writing grant applications to Federal Agencies, Non-Profit Organizations and Industry to secure funding for ongoing and future research activities.
- Reporting of results at scientific meetings in the form of abstracts, posters and podium presentations is a required activity for the candidate.
- In addition, it is expected that candidates will write final reports when necessary to meet study project deliverables and manuscripts for publication to peer-review journals as a first and a collaborating author.
- Candidates are also expected to participate as reviewers for peer-review journals as part of their annual responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are therefore required for the successful candidate.
- The Pharmacy Outcomes Leader will mentor PAS Research Group staff.
- These activities include but are not limited to staff training, educational presentations and career development training.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- One or more years experience in research required. - PhD in Pharmacoeconomics
- Competent in advanced research methods, including statistical techniques and study design used in pharmaoceconomic, epidemiologic, health services research and similar studies.
- Proficient in SAS, STATA and/or other statistical software packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work well with other investigators and be able to multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or more years experience in research.
- Experience in writing grants to the NIH and/or other Federal Agencies, Non-Profit Organizations and Industry funders.
- Proficient in cost-effectiveness modeling software such as TreeAge, Arena and Microsoft Excel.
