The Cobol developer role is to have the primary responsibilities of performing the following activities: maintain, diagnose, test, configure set-up and respond to system activity. Also will need to be able to provide technical assistance to internal or external users. May be involved in new or complex devices, components, methods or procedures. Resource expected to perform most assignments independently and need minimal technical guidance on new projects. Needs the ability to work within established processes and procedures; able to do problem determination and problem solving. Resource should have the ability to function as the lead interface with clients and vendors and utilize Systems Management Process for IBM clients. Resource will be expected to provide input into documentation/operating procedures within their area of expertise or to improve these procedures and/or processes. Demonstrates problem solving expertise resulting in significant contribution to the efforts of the team and management. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 5 years experience in COBOL
  • At least 2 years experience in JCL
  • At least 2 years experience in DB2 DBA
  • At least 3 years experience in IMS
  • English: Intermediate


Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 6 months experience in MQ Series
  • At least 3 years experience in PL/1
  • At least 3 years experience in SQL
  • At least 3 years experience in Assembler


Additional information
Travel expected for this position: The IBM Michigan Delivery Center is an in-bound delivery model where we support our clients from our East Lansing, MI center. Some travel is expected and all candidates must be willing and able to travel to meet our client needs. Travel is typically within the continental US. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training at the client site and may fluctuate between a few weeks or a few months up front (Monday thru Friday) at the client site.
