The Assoc. Director, Customer Insights is responsible: To manage and effectively utilize resources to provide management with actionable information and insight regarding the global market and business environment. To drive strategic decision making in line with corporate objectives. To manage, counsel and coach department associates.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Influence business thinking as a contributing member of multi-functional Business Unit Leadership Teams; Creation and management of ongoing U.S. and Global Marketing Research budgets and learning plans; Provide guidance to Global Marketing and R&D regarding LCM plans to extend specific franchises; Influence the development and measurement of the growth platform's strategic and tactical plans across Patient, Physician, Payer, and Provider stakeholders; Oversee the Identification and Development of strategic marketing research tools (e.g., database development, Equity & Retention customer tracking tools, etc.) that will ultimately guide business decisions; Oversee the Identification and Development of ongoing training needs and deployment of functional partners and business partners.

Qualifications


BS or BA in business, marketing, statistics or related field is required; MBA in Marketing Research (or related program) preferred. Training in research principles & techniques for customer / product satisfaction, total quality, qualitative & quantitative research is required. A minimum of 5-7 years marketing research experience with a market research firm or in a large market research department is required. Experience in the medical device, hospital specialty, or healthcare field marketing research experience a plus is preferred, but not required. Proven track record of managing in a matrix environment where a high degree of collaboration, flexibility and change management skills is needed. Excellent proven leadership, interdependent partnering, collaboration in a matrixed environment, and communication at all levels - technical and non-technical is required. Critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to translate vague information needs into specific questions relating to expected use of results are required. Must have the ability to formulate recommendations. Strong leadership (lead cross-functional teams, sometimes requiring managing and leading without authority), negotiation skills and ability to influence across functions and divisions is required. Strong project management skills to include planning, prioritizing and organizational skills are required. Must have knowledge / understanding of: market research & statistical techniques, study design - which market research study design is most appropriate to address the question (i.e., when to use focus groups, mail survey, phone surveys, conjoint, etc.), market research & statistical tools - frequencies, cross-tabs, factor analysis, discriminate analysis, conjoint analysis, multivariate linear & logistic regression, etc., interpretation of results - meaning of top-two box, use of factor loading to explain behavior, use of discriminate results for segmentation, etc. People management experience is also required. Demonstrated success in creative problem solving and team partnership is required. Proficiency in Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint, and basic knowledge of analytical tools (e.g. SPSS or SAS) required.
