Description

The Immunology Therapeutic Area of Janssen Research & Development is committed to delivering transformational solutions for patients with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The goal of the newly-formed Disease Integrative Biology group, within the Immunology Therapeutic Area (TA), is to create a critical platform for deep biological disease understanding that will allow the Immunology TA, through enabling its R&D pipeline, to maintain its leadership position in providing treatments for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The Disease Integrative Biology group is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to play an important role in supporting the development of the platform for the biological disease understanding of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) by generating data for the platform and, utilizing this platform to impact the R&D efforts focused on theRA near- and long-term portfolio by testing hypotheses.

Janssen Research & Development , Inc is currently recruiting for a Senior Associate Scientist, Rheumatolid Arthritis (RA) in Spring House, PA.

The primary responsibility of the Senior Associate Scientist is to develop and utilize in vitro multi-cellular and organotypic models that reflect pathways associated with RA. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the in vitro models by helping to identify, evaluate and integrate novel technologies into model development.

The successful candidate will be responsible to generating data that lead to the discovery of new biology related to RA, validate hypothesis, study the mechanism of action of exploratory drugs and drug targets. The position will require an interactive scientist willing to work in a matrixed-team environment and will be expected to integrate into a multidisciplinary team effort consisting of internal and external scientists with expertise in immunology, cellular and molecular biology.

The candidate will be accountable for operational excellence, including transparency and rigor in data collection and interpretation to ensure high and consistent quality of documentation and presentation to Senior Management for decision making. This includes i) the provision of scientific expertise and education as necessary to key partner lines within Research Immunology, ii) regular updates of the research progress, iii) maintenance of written records of work in the form of notebooks, technical reports and protoc The candidate will be expected to pro-actively contribute in rendering Disease Integrative Biology as a strong collaboration partner within the Immunology TA.

Qualifications


A minimum of a BS/BA with 9+ years of laboratory experience is required or an MS with 6 years of expereince.

The candidate must demonstrate a strong technical grasp of immune-related molecular and cellular mechanisms with some theoretical understanding of immune pathways in RA.The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience in and be comfortable with utilizing novel technologies/approaches to solve complex biologic problems preferably in RA-related research

The candidate will be expected to conduct scientific literature searches in support of questions of importance for the group's projects. This position is located in Spring House, PA.
