MD&D Head of HR - Nordics
Location - ideally Stockholm
This role is part of the UK / Ireland / Nordics Cluster with specific responsibility for all Nordic countries across the 3 MDD Groups (Global Surgery, Global Orthopaedics, Global Medical Solutions plus Shared Services). HR is truly a shared service across the entire MDD organization Nordics. HR must be able to operate with flexibility and agility and the focus must be on providing a relevant yet efficient and effective HR service to the business thus assisting it with the right talent, in the right place at the right time to ensure business growth and success.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to work within the Nordics organisation and to take the current HR service to a new level. The role will provide strategic and operational support across the Nordic region.
The incumbent of this role is a key member of the UK / Ire / Nordics HR Leadership Team.
This role will be accountable for developing and executing HR strategies for the relevant business units to drive growth whilst ensuring alignment to the overall HR strategy for the entire MDD business with key focus on Talent Acquisition and Development (inc. Coaching and mentoring where required). The role will be key in Identifying and developing organisational capabilities to ensure the business is at the forefront of internal and external environment changes, at the same time providing a high quality, responsive yet relevant HR service to the appropriate business units. Driving a strong credo, diversity and engagement culture within the relevant business unit, through employee engagement initiatives and credo development
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and deploy HR strategy in support of the short to medium term business goals of the business units being supported, In alignment with the overall UK / Ireland and Nordics HR and business strategy
- Serves as the "lead" business partner for the Nordics Business Units and Shared Services organisation
- Partners with business unit leaders to grow diverse leadership, talent and technical capability in the business and collaborates across the other groups in the cluster to ensure movement of talent
- Implements and drives strategies to enable the business unit to thrive through periods of change (e.g. acquisition, internal growth, restructurings)
- Provides group and one-on-one coaching with managers and employees to support leadership development, business decision-making, human resources management, and problem solving and performance management
- Ensures that this group stays fully integrated with the rest of the HR organisation on areas such as HR Process, policy, procedures, compensation and benefits, enterprise wide initiatives.
- Totally supports and drives where appropriate the implementation of appropriate integrated HR solutions
- Implements, in line with the agreed timetable global/regional / local standardised HR processes, this would normally be done in conjunction and in parallel with the rest of the cluster to ensure timely roll up etc..
- Works with the relevant Nordics unions to ensure full compliance and ongoing continuous improvement of our relationship with the unions to remove and prevent barriers to business growth.
- Works in collaboration with the HR Director in developing the HR strategy for the cluster
- Ensures that the business unit reward structures are fit for purpose and within Total Reward guidelines and ensuring attraction, and retention of talent within the organisation
- Manages and develops a small team of HR professionals
- Contributes to the development and upkeep of relevant HR metrics and takes this data and interprets relevant HR actions for his / her area of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level with relevant HR qualifications or alternatives where appropriate - desirable
- Significant depth of experience as a generalist BBHR professional
- Multi business unit experience required
- International experience outside of the Nordics countries essential
- Cross sector experience would be desirable
- Experience of successfully leading and developing a small team of HR professionals such that a strong pipeline of HR talent was developed
- Successfully lead on key organisation changes within multi business unit environment
- Experience of driving key talent initiatives at business unit level
- Lead through key business cycles and provided HR input to relevant plans (BP, strategic planning for the BU, manpower planning for the BU etc.)
- Managed key ER issues and coached others through the process (experience of managing unions essential)
- Total Rewards - experience of reviewing and developing compensation strategy Solid business acumen gained in a commercial environment, robust understanding of a P&L and the impact HR can have on the success of a BP.
- Proven ability to effectively interact and influence at all levels within a complex, matrix organization
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills and be able to act as a role model
- Experience of mergers, acquisitions, divestiture or TUPE transfer would be desirable
