Medical Devices & Diagnostics Global Services, LLC., is recruiting for a Sr. HVAC Mechanic to support the Ortho Clinical Diagnostics manufacturing operations, in Rochester, NY.

The Sr. HVAC Mechanic Operates and maintains facilities equipment including, but not limited to, building controls, fire protection systems and heating-ventilation-and air conditioning (HVAC). Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. Plans, coordinates, inspects, and performs maintenance and supports project management for facility related projects, including but not limited to, building remodeling and construction, equipment installation and/or replacement, safety and environmental compliance, mechanical systems maintenance, and energy conservation.
Directs and performs mechanical and preventive maintenance and major repairs on all facilities equipment. Troubleshoots complex mechanical and electrical systems. Coordinates inspections and tests of machinery and equipment to detect malfunctions. Oversees the dismantling of defective machines and equipment and the installation of new or repaired parts. Ensures proper utilization of computerized maintenance management system for work orders and preventive maintenance entries and closures. Coordinates and insures maintenance logs, part requisitions, preventive maintenance inspection records and other required maintenance documentation. Trains lower level technicians on safe work habits in handling of equipment, tools, chemicals and use of protective equipment. Drives all safety, environmental, and energy management systems. Leads and oversees the work of other mechanics. Can lay out, and install pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Plans and specifies jobs/projects. Leads and directs internal team members and outside contractors.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required. Associates Degree is preferred. Must have knowledge of pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls systems related to the operation and control of commercial / industrial heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment. Be able to understand and use building drawings to locate equipment. Candidate must also have knowledge on controls theory and understand complex HVAC systems that include maintaining tightly controlled humidity and temperature areas. Have knowledge of the control and distribution of different utility mediums that are used to include chilled water, steam, electricity, vacuum, and compressed air. General knowledge of refrigeration systems to include walk-in and Reach-in type boxes. Working efficiently with computer systems that include basic Office Suite software, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. Using building management and computerized maintenance management software is required. OTIS document control software, Siemens Apogee building controls, and Maximo experience is preferred. Requires Planning and Specifying jobs/projects. Experienced with leading and directing internal team members and outside contractors is preferred. Demonstrated ability to make facility related recommendations and decisions with minimal supervision is required. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs on a regular basis is required. Availability to work on week-ends and holidays as needed is required. Work shifts include on call at least every three weeks for one week period. Stationary Engineer Certification is a plus.
