The Assistant Librarian position exists to (1) develop and perform complex personalized literature searches for CHR project teams, (2) provide reference services for CHR investigators and staff, (3) develop, maintain, and improve the Library's intranet web presence, and (4) provide expertise in areas including, but not limited to, copyright, grey literature, scholarly publishing, and trends in technology to support research.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and performs complex personalized literature searches for CHR project teams.
- Provides key support to investigators and project teams by searching for published literature to identify previous research, systematic reviews, and research gaps.
- Identifies and conducts searches in unpublished (grey) literature resources such as clinical trial registries, conference abstracts, and FDA approval documents.
- Provides guidance in topic scoping and feasibility to inform the literature search process.
- Recommends and implements changes to projects' methodologies, including the storage and organization of data and search results.
- Creates tailored literature alert services.
- Provides reference services for CHR investigators and staff.
- Solves bibliographic problems, and provides guidance in citation formatting.
- Obtains statistics and factual information.
- Identifies and recommends appropriate journals for submitting manuscripts.
- Monitors and appraises recent research findings for CHR investigators, staff, and projects.
- Maintains awareness of new methods to identify emerging research trends, including literature monitoring activities.
- Provides instructional and consultation services for CHR investigators and staff.
- Leads one-on-one or group instruction to assist users in accessing and searching electronic resources.
- Designs, develops, and implements instructional handouts.
- Expands and maintains the library's intranet web presence.
- Serves as backup to the Research Center Librarian by providing advanced professional library services.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of professional library experience.
- Master's degree in library science.
- Strong internet and online bibliographic database searching skills.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Ability to document work processes.
- Working knowledge of HTML and web editor software.
- Working knowledge of standard office software.
- Ability to work both independently and with a collaborative team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of professional library experience in a medical, health, or research setting preferred.
- Experience with systematic review processes preferred.
- Experience with searching for grey literature preferred.
- Experience with Reference Manager or similar bibliographic management software preferred.

Salary range: $48,460 - 63,940.
