Work in a team environment supporting the Marine Corps Center for Advanced Operational Culture Learning (CAOCL) while utilizing region specific analysis, research and writing expertise to support the content development and sustainment of the Regional, Cultural and Language Familiarization Program for the general purpose force. Must have a keen understanding of the population and cultures of the assigned area, and can identify and incorporate operationally relevant knowledge into training and education programs for Marines at all levels of grade and military occupational specialty.
§ Provide a research and writing capability sufficient to provide analytical rigor necessary to generate operationally relevant cultural products § Research, analyze, develop, and revise content of culture publications in partnership with curriculum developers while adhering to standardized formats § Network and collaborate with other researchers and subject matter experts in support of CAOCL tasks Provide regional expertise for content development and sustainment of the Regional, Cultural and Language Familiarization Program
§ Research and analytical experience derived from higher education degree (preferably Masters) or profession § Ability to work on a pre-determined production schedule in support of a teaming organization § Working knowledge of existing culture and regional resources, curricula, reference materials, books, and other media produced by internal DoD resources as well as sources external to DoD § Above average English language oral and written skills § Experience in studying, living or visiting assigned regions; regions include: Mexico, Central, South America Caribbean, East, Central, South and Southeast Asia Middle East and North Africa Sub-Saharan Africa Russia, Eastern Europe and the Transcaucasia § Language proficiency for a target language within assigned region a plus Experience in instructional delivery or public speaking required and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in regional/security studies with field concentration with 5 years experience or 9 years experience in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in supporting Marine Corps or other DOD organizations
Masters Degree in regional/security studies with field concentration strongly preferred
Secret clearance preferred
