Job Description
This position reports to the Project Manager for the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) project. GCSS-Army is a significant SAP implementation that will modernize US Army logistical information technology throughout the tactical Army. At completion of fielding, the system will support more than 100,000 users. The Sustainment Manager will oversee all activities related to supporting a live SAP environment. Duties include three key mission areas: 1) a support team that monitors the production environment daily using both automated and manual methods; 2) a significant help desk that, at full capability, will provide 24/7 Level 2 support; and 3) a Level 3 sustainment organization capable of addressing more complex user problems and developing solutions. Planning, executing and supervising monitoring activities, incident coordination and resolution, design and development of minor enhancements to the current solution, development of risks and mitigation plans for common errors (whether system or user related), monitoring business process results utilizing the GCSS-Army solution, and preparing recommendations and solutions for more complex problems are key tasks.
Responsibilities
Working with the Army Program Office, the Sustainment Manager will define the governance model and procedures for production support. The Sustainment Manager will implement the approved procedures and ensure that the Sustainment Team follows them. Mentorship, training and development of the Sustainment Team, and implementation of strategies to measure and improve the team's performance are essential. Outstanding documentation and reporting metrics shall be required. The Sustainment Manager's Team will monitor end-user competency and develop corrective action plans where/when appropriate.
The Sustainment Manager is also responsible for overseeing the sustainment of GCSS-Army training products and the development of any new products identified in the course of the system sustainment.
Application and Infrastructure Management are sustaining functions for the GCSS-Army program and are led by the Sustainment Team.
The Sustainment Manager will plan and monitor budgets, costs and resources related to the Sustainment Team.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a ?Public Trust? DoD security clearance
- Bachelors degree or higher, in an engineering or related field
- Solid project management/service delivery experience
- Experience in ERP or Large Software System sustainment
- Demonstrated experience in project leadership, business acumen, and system sustainment
- Experience in leadership positions requiring close collaboration with multiple peer organizations
- A track record for delivering consistently strong client services
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
Discriminators
- SAP project experience, especially sustainment of a large, complex system (major discriminator)
- Degree in the computer science or a related information technology field is preferred
- PMP certification is desirable.
- Previous DoD Secret clearance is desirable.
- Experience on a major DoD acquisition project is desirable
