Description:
Lead, administer, and manage the laboratory staff and program focused on Unconventional Reservoir technology in the BTC facility.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Program - work with key stakeholders within Technology, the Business Units, outside core lab service providers, and own staff to develop and update research (aka Technology Development) plans and strategy for the UR program. This includes program content, prioritization, implementation plans, and capability development (staff, equipment, space). Staying current with project progress and issues and resolving the latter, elevating when necessary. Key deliverables may include: flow physics in UR, development of best practice subsurface lab measurement protocol, lab support for well completion optimization, rock and fluid interaction dynamics, and general support for UR exploration & development technologies and optimization of key assets.
Collaboration - some resources are shared, into UR from elsewhere or from UR to other BTC teams. Coordination of these activities is required with the involved staff and their managers.
People - Directly manage staff working on the UR team. This program is rapidly growing, with an expectation to double in terms of staff count within a few years.
Management - develop capital and expense budgets for TD and services work; assist staff in prioritizing work when multiple demands arise (common); manage project expenditures to within an agreed tolerance relative to budget; performing routine management tasks (time approvals; expense approvals; AFE generation; etc.)
HSE - ensure standards are known and applied; contribute directly or indirectly to laboratory and corporate safety programs. Maintain a safe work environment (self and team).
Other duties included but not limited to
* Direct consultation with or review of BU project(s)
* Lab location questions, studies
* JIP participation
* Participation in GRE or Technology level initiatives, e.g., Functional Excellence program design or content
Qualifications:

Basic/Required:
* Legally Authorized to work in the US
* BSc or higher educational background in engineering, geoscience, or physics
Preferred:
* MS or higher in engineering, physics, geosciences
* 3 years experience in an operating environment (Business Unit or equivalent)
* 5 years lab and technical management experience
* Location flexibility (Bartlesville or Houston )
* Breadth in technical background (subsurface and D&C) in Unconventional Reservoirs
