Description

Surmont Phase 1 is an in-situ SAGD project consisting of a 27,000bbl/d central processing facility, two pads and 40 well pairs. Currently under construction, Surmont Phase 2 will initiate operations in 2014 and reach 118,000 bbl/d in 2016.
Production optimization requires a high degree of integration of the well/production engineering aligned with reservoir, plant processing, steam generation/injection and product quality/marketing. To manage this level of complexity the asset has been divided into seven primary systems (Reservoir, Wells, Gathering and Treating, Water Treatment, Steam, Sales and Blending and Total System). Each system has a team comprised of technical professionals and operations personnel assigned to optimize the system.
The Oil Sands Sales and Blend Lead Engineer will serve as the optimization lead for the Sales and Blending area for the Surmont Field. This position will work closely with the Leads from other primary systems providing technical support to execute a portfolio of projects aimed to maximize net back profit and ensure reliability of our diluent and blend storage and shipping operations.

Responsibilities
* Supports and complies with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility.
* Define Strategy and develop and execute action plans to achieve short and long term goals in the areas pertaining Sales and Blending, including readiness plan for Phase 2.
* Perform engineering calculations, develop models and tools to improve understanding and ultimately enhance overall performance and reliability of the S&B system.
* Maintain S&B KPIs. Follow-up closely activities in other departments which affect S&B performance.
* Perform quality check on data and information and provide feedback to data analysts on ways to improve reliability and consistency of information.
* Assist in preparation of reports, presentations and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
* Work with Production Engineering to provide accurate recommendations to COP and JV Marketing groups on diluent purchases and shipping nominations.
* Monitor diluent quality and update blend ratio forecast
* Collaborate with internal and JV Marketing groups as well as Enbridge to monitor, optimize and assure diluent and sales product inventory
* Collaborate with expansion phases on sales and blending design
* Manage portfolio of opportunities for the S&B area.
* Support Operations Excellence initiatives within the PS&O framework and develop, coordinate and maintain the Sales and Blending System work plans. Apply continuous improvement philosophy to workflow, procedures and tools.
* Establish and maintains relationships with various stakeholders i.e. joint ventures, external agencies
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Engineering Degree
* APEGA P. Eng. designation
* 10 years of relevant engineering experience
* Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in O&G industry
* SAGD specific experience will be considered an important asset for this position
* Project management and Supervisor experience will be an asset
* Advanced computer skills: MS suite (Excel; Access; Word; Project; PowerPoint); SAP experience an asset
* Legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
* Must possess a valid class 5 Drivers license and an acceptable driving record
