Provides leadership for the product management function which supports regional profitability and membership goals by managing a diverse portfolio that meets the needs of the market. Leads the ongoing analysis of product line performance and supervises the efforts of the product managers and other staff to improve product administrative (health plan and delivery system operations) and financial (membership, revenue, margin) performance.

Essential Functions:
- Supervises and leads the activities of the product managers responsible for product performance metrics including membership growth and product line profitability.
- Works with MSBD management to establish key product line metrics; monitors, evaluates and report as appropriate; sets product specifications and performance goals.
- Oversees development of product line strategic plans and promotes cross-functional teaming with the line of business Strategy Managers to ensure product line performance goals and initiatives are aligned with the line of business strategies.
- Oversees progress in key product performance enhancement initiatives.
- Builds cross-functional internal support for initiatives and secures and manages executive level sponsorship of initiatives.
- Leads communication of product strategies and product initiatives to marketing, sales, account management, and operational areas within Mid-Atlantic States region, including facilitating the regional Product Portfolio Management Committee (PPMC).
- Collaborates with product and strategy management in other Kaiser Permanente regions as appropriate.
- Ensures that the Mid-Atlantic region is represented in national product management processes and projects.
- Hires, trains and develops product management staff.
- Ensures contractual compliance with benefit filings and other regulatory requirements.
- Leads development of strategic business cases to secure funding for key strategic product initiatives.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience in healthcare and/or marketing with an emphasis in product management and strategy development required.
- Five (5) years of experience and expertise leading complex, interdisciplinary projects required.
- Five (5) years of experience working in an analytical environment with knowledge of various analytical methods and statistical techniques required.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience using a personal computer which includes the demonstrated ability to proficiently use productivity tools such as spreadsheets (Excel), presentation graphics (PowerPoint), and word processing (Word) tools required.
- Three (3) years of experience in supervising a professional staff required.
- BS/BA in business, marketing, healthcare, project management or related field required.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills are required.
- Ability to deal effectively with multiple clients is required.
- Ability to effectively interact with a diverse workforce and cross functional groups required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA, MHA, or similar degree strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory and contractual requirements preferred.
- Knowledge of current health care marketplace dynamics and Kaiser Permanente's position in the market preferred.
- Knowledge of Kaiser Permanente operations and marketing processes and strategies preferred.
