Description
Veridex, L.L.C, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a QC Scientist II, located in Raritan, NJ.
Veridex, LLC provides cancer diagnostic products that will enable earlier disease detection as well as more accurate staging, monitoring and therapeutic management of cancer patients. The company is initially commercializing two complementary product lines: CELLSEARCH™ assays that identify enumerate and characterize circulating tumor cells directly from a single tube of blood.
The QC Scientist I will operate instruments to perform several aspects of functional and analytical testing pertaining to the Cell Search products and create, review, revise and execute protocols. Participate in activities for summary reports, Nonconformance's, deviations, CAPA, and Change Orders in Cell Search quality control. Participate in failure investigations, customer complaints in conjunction with the product support group. The QC Scientist I will perform and maintain equipment calibration, qualification, maintenance and train laboratory personnel in the QC process.
The QC Scientist II will be responsible for the execution of QC test methods for product release, stability, raw material testing, protocols and composition of reports and methods. Will make independent decisions on execution of experiments and protocols and also on test results which will be used for product release and to determine shelf life of products. Cross-functional decisions related to products, safety, purity, potency, and efficacy.
The QC Scientist II will be familiar with Veridex safety and environmental policies and perform work tasks and operations in compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations, and encourage co-workers to do so; if uncertain, consult the supervisor. Attend applicable safety and environmental education and training programs and participate in Safety Committees and attend departmental safety and environmental meetings. Immediately report and correct, if possible, unsafe conditions, spills and near miss incidents. Conduct self-inspections of workstations and offices for hazardous conditions. Include safety and environmentally related activities and accomplishments in performance appraisals, as appropriate.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or a related field of study and a minimum of 2 years experience with QC, GMP, and analytical procedures is required. Experience with analytical instrumentation such as CellSearch Autoprep and CellTrack Analyzer II is preferred. Flow cytometry and cell culture experience is preferred. Familiarity with the guidelines and regulations of FDA, OSHA, ISO and cGMP is preferred. The willingness and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and the manual dexterity to handle instruments, complete repetitive motions, and stand for long periods of time is required. Diligent use of PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) to limit exposure to biopathogens is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Minitab is preferred. This position is located in Raritan, NJ.
