J&J Innovation Centers (ICs) are in the process of being opened in San Francisco, Boston and London. The goal of the ICs is to create a critical platform to compete for the top medical innovations at universities and biotech companies allowing Janssen to build the best pipeline in the industry. Operating close to where the greatest innovations occur will give us early access and better insights to make our investment selections. This will allow us to increase our probability of success in on-boarding new products.

The J&J Innovation Centers are recruiting for a Senior Director, Project Management Office roles, to be located in either London, UK; Boston, MA; and San Francisco, CA.

The Senior Director, Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible to maintain full operational integration across the respective J&J Innovation Center location, and with the Therapeutic Areas of the Pharmaceutical Sector, the Businesses of Consumer and MD&D sectors. In this capacity he/she will have responsibility for overseeing short term and long term implementation of operational and reporting systems to manage early stage deal flow, business development projects and alliances across regional innovation centers with linkage back to R&D to ensure the best use of company resources in accordance with the business strategy. He/she will maintain accurate documentation and tracking of all projects for the respective Innovation Center. The Senior Director-PMO will facilitate the integration and simplification of the transactional decision process with the Therapeutic Areas of the Pharmaceutical Sector, the Businesses of Consumer and MD&D sectors within their respective Innovation Center. The Senior Director- PMO will provide background information and documents to assist their Innovation Center Leader in decision making and will also provide guidance to IC delegates across their respective Innovation Center. This role will partner with, Finance, IT, Legal, Business and Therapeutic Area Leaders, J&J Development Corporation and their IC Leader to create, implement and maintain "one" global Information Sharing System across J&J for external relationship management & project management and will likely procure major components of this system from external vendors. Upon implementation of the Information Sharing System the Senior Director-PMO will be responsible for appropriate training and optimal adherence by all involved in external innovation across their respective Innovation Center and its internal partners. Partners with internal and external stakeholders and provides expertise to harmonize and streamline global business development process. He/she will approve and oversee the IT system deployment and budget while ensuring compliance to budgetary expenses or other legal obligations. The system will be simple to use but highly robust, portable and designed to track the deal activity, due diligence and progress of all pre-POC/pre-FIH projects/relationships across the organization globally and provide a reliable and standardized reporting mechanism. The system shall over time also include a relations management system, contract management, internal and external crowd sourcing capabilities and portfolio management tools to track and assess portfolio value, guide alliance management and guide decision making. The Senior Director-PMO will support their respective IC leader's efforts (in conjunction with the other IC PMO Leads) in the creation and management of a global Innovation Center Branding initiative to define brand essence and create a plan to train and reinforce appropriate behaviors and actions in external innovation to maintain brand image.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor's or equivalent level degree is required. An advanced degree (Masters, MBA, PhD, MD, etc.) is preferred. A minimum of 10+ years of diverse business experience is required. Experience in a Scientific or related field is highly desirable. A solid understanding of business and science across the three sectors is preferred. Experience as a project manager required. The ability to build excellent relationships is needed. Demonstrated ability across several diverse job experiences to easily connect both internally and externally, create buy-in and produce results is required. Experience with implementing and scaling IT systems and Business Development is highly preferred. These positions will require travel and are located in London, UK; Boston, MA; and San Francisco, CA.
