Cisco's Security Services and Cloud Operations organization is hiring software engineers to develop Cisco's next-generation network threat defense software.

Our threat defense software, which runs on customer networks and in the cloud, will protect customers from network security threats that include intrusions, malware, botnets as well as novel and emerging threats.

As part of a high-performing Agile team, you will develop cutting-edge security software using techniques ranging from traditional intrusion detection pattern matching to big data analytics. You will write software in C++ that runs on platforms in customers' networks or Python software that will run in the cloud. An important aspect of this position is the ability to understand, decode and manipulate network and application communication protocols.

We're seeking excellent software engineers who are passionate about building great network security products and services as part of an agile development team.

Required experience and skills:
-Strong track record for developing C/C++ or Python software professionally
- Programming experience in a Linux (or Unix) based environments
- Strong teamwork and communication skills

Ideal candidate would also have some or all of the following experience:
- 3+ years of professional C/C++ or Python software development experience
- High level of interest in network security with relevant experience in the development of network security software
- Solid understanding of network and/or application communication protocols
- Embedded systems programming
- Cloud development
- Big data analytics
- NoSQL database development
- Unit and system test automation
- Python, TCL/Expect, and/or shell programming
