Cisco is seeking a senior software QA engineer to join a product development team working on cutting edge data center intelligent automation software.

The successful candidate will design and develop software for testing large, custom, production application environments. We are looking for deep experience (e.g., 3-5 years across a number of projects) testing Java server-side systems (especially J2EE), testing enterprise-scale systems (distributed, high performance) and a range of knowledge and skills listed below.



Responsibilities:
â ¢ Design, develop, document, repair, present and support automation tools for the purpose of testing JAVA and FLEX based programs, particularly using Selenium, RIATest,QTP and soapUI
â ¢ Perform as a senior engineer within the product team and within Cisco. Includes ability to take a set of concurrent technical and communication tasks, provide reliable schedules for their execution, and execute them to completion. A self-starter. Works well with others.
â ¢ Understand the product and product space very well.
â ¢ Effective, professional communication â through give and take â with the other engineers, management, marketing, sales, testing, support, partners, suppliers, professional peers and with customers.
â ¢ Provide domain expertise for J2EE web applications, SOA architectures, custom applications in production enterprise environments, data center practices and the technologies and products that are commonly used in these environments. Expertise with IIS/.NET/ASP/ADO would be a bonus.


Technical Skills:

â ¢ Design and develop a distributed Java application that communicates synchronously and asynchronously using Java standard techniques.
â ¢ Know messaging principles, such as publish-subscribe request-reply, reliable delivery, and large message transfer. Especially JMS.
â ¢ Design and develop a high-performance relational database schema.
â ¢ Know how Java works. This includes depth with the language, compilation, byte-code, class loading, execution, common libraries, concurrency, performance and packaging. Of these concurrency is especially valuable for this position.
â ¢ Work with modern tools and methodologies for design, development, project management, feature and issue tracking and architectural evaluations.


Other Skills:

â ¢ Experience in Health, IT and business automation portals is highly desirable.
â ¢ Excellent writing, speaking, presentation and coding (for readable software) skills. The first three with customers, with management, and across all parts of the project team.
â ¢ Develop requirements based on marketing, internal requirements, technical trends, and architectural vision.
â ¢ Process large amount of requirements quickly, understand the implications, produce alternative approaches, evaluate the approaches, and recommend an approach clearly and convincingly.
â ¢ Good interaction with customers and across company. Able to handle difficult, impossible situations well is a plus.
â ¢ A team-oriented approach to working with everyone. Includes mentoring, assisting on various tasks, listening and handling all levels of tasks as needed.
â ¢ Understand product life-cycle and apply best practices for feature growth, flexibility, scaling, product family/versioning and integration with other products.
â ¢ Make tradeoffs between ideal requirements and resource limitations.
â ¢ Be a quick study on new technologies, systems, requirements, interfaces, components, frameworks and customer factors.
