Position Purpose

The Enterprise Architect leads the Enterprise Architecture function for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle and will help the organization to effectively leverage current and future technology investments. The Enterprise Architect will contribute to a framework of technology principles, standards, practices, and roadmaps aligned with business objectives. The individual will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of an architectural information repository that integrates business, operations, systems, and technical, security, and information components. The Enterprise Architect will work with the business units to define the roadmap for the business systems. The Enterprise Architect must understand the Seattle Bank’s business, be able to dive deeply into technology issues, integrate business information, and understand the critical role of information technology in the organization. The architect will stay abreast of new technology developments, research their applicability to the Seattle Bank and introduce them to the organization if appropriate. The architect will support the architectural life cycle including planning, requirements, design, review, and implementation. He/She must be able to effectively influence and communicate architectural proposals, techniques, tools, and solutions.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage the collection and documentation of information that describes the current state, reference baselines, and target architectures.
  • Mentor technology team members in the creation of architecture views that include business, operations, systems, technology, information, and security domains.
  • Provide leadership and technical mentorship to the development teams.
  • Ensure the interoperability and standardization of technology solutions and their alignment with a business and technical vision.
  • Stay abreast of current and future technologies in area of software development tools, system integration, data management, information architecture, and infrastructure design.
  • Drive definition of reference architectures, roadmaps and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain the reference enterprise architecture artifact repository.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science required or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
  • 10 plus years experience in engineering of complex computer systems with at least 3 years in an architectural design leadership role.
  • Knowledge of computer system theories, principles, processes and practices, with a broad knowledge of new and evolving technologies and trends.
  • Excellent attention to detail with sound knowledge of project management, resource management, and life cycle management principles, methods, and practices including business case analysis and change management.
  • Familiarity with Mainframe environments
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technology platforms such as Windows 2008, .NET, SQL Server, WCF, IIS, Hyper-V, Azure.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • Demonstrated experience in application and system design and development with successful integration of heterogeneous technologies.
  • Proven experience creating and maintain architectures including business, information, data and application architectures, and technology architectures.
  • Strong ability to read, assimilate, evaluate, synthesize, and disseminate highly technical information from disparate sources.
  • Good visualization and presentation skills to create visual models and experience using industry modeling tools.
  • An adaptable team player with ability to communicate effectively.
