Coventry is currently seeking an Associate Internal Auditor to work with our Corporate Accounting team in Bethesda, MD. Under direct supervision, assists with the performance and/or coordination of standard internal financial and/or management audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Reviews and evaluates internal accounting or financial controls to ensure ongoing compliance and support. Ensures Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in all business functions.

Coventry is currently seeking an Associate Internal Auditor to work with our Corporate Accounting team in Bethesda, MD. Under direct supervision, assists with the performance and/or coordination of standard internal financial and/or management audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Reviews and evaluates internal accounting or financial controls to ensure ongoing compliance and support. Ensures Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in all business functions.
The ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES are:
- Responsible for assisting with the execution and/or coordination of standard internal financial and/or management audits. Reviews financial and operating procedures to determine if internal controls are being properly applied.
- Assists with the preparation of objective, accurate reports to properly document and support audit findings for management review. Researches issues and assists with the development of a recommendation for corrective measures to rectify any questionable data or procedures.
- Works closely with senior staff to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley in all business functions by ensuring company process documentation is current, performing and documenting independent test of processes, validating audit work papers contain collaborating evidence to support the audit objectives, coordinating the remediation and closing of all identified control gaps, and reviewing changes in company operations for new significant processes.
- Coordinates the required documentation efforts for internal audits with process owners throughout the company.
- Assists with the information gathering process for external audit testing and analysis relating to multiple third-party auditors, including, but not limited to, financial, client, federal, and statutory auditors.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:

- Bachelor’s degree
- Pevious (1-3 years) of accounting and audit experience required. Entry level for employees with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, applications, and accounting systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated attention to details.
