Description
The Medical Affairs (MAF) Training Director will be responsible for identifying training needs and implementing effective and result driven training strategy for to support development needs of the MAF staff and ensure consistency, common standards and compliance across the Asia Pacific (AP) Region.
This person should collaborate with a representative of the Local Operating Companies in AP, regional Therapeutic Area Physicians, and other region (eg, EMEA. NA) and J&J sectors to develop/update and manage Medical Affairs Training curriculum/program for the effective training delivery, leverage training tools and experience from other J&J companies, train the trainer, tracking and managing training records and contracting training from 3rd parties as appropriate.
The MAF Training Director will be in charge of evaluating existing standards and tools for effective Learning internal and externally. He/she will be in charge of providing recommendations and setting up the criteria for certification of MAF personnel.
The Training will include Compliance, functional training, leadership training and coordination of TA training
This position reports to VP Medical Affairs,Asia Pacific.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a strategy and plan for effective Learning and training of AP MAF personnel based on competency model
The program should that articulates the following: identification of knowledge and skill requirements based on company strategy, identification of training needs, identification or development of training programs and materials, implementation of training, evaluation of training, tracking to ensure associate compliance with training requirements, and development of training policies to ensure program development and implementation success.
- Partner with other J&J Medical Affairs groups, among others to co-develop programs and plan for future services.
- Coordinate AP Medical Affairs training design and delivery, leveraging tools and experience from internal ( J&J sectors) and external sources
- Contracting training from other parties for developing or delivering training materials as appropriate.
- Evaluate the available internal and external technology to ensure that appropriate training related technology tools are available and all training material stored in IT Platform
- Collaborate with HR to develop foundational items such as technical competency models for MAF Function
- Provide recommendations for coursework for leadership and technical competencies, where possible. Partner with HR to integrate competencies into HR processes. .
- Direct / collaborate on the development and maintain training curriculum for each function within Medical Affairs in AP.
- Partner with MAF AP Leadership to identify areas for curriculum development and implementation.
- Direct assessment and updates of curricula.
- Ensure MAF Team members have clear guidance about selecting training that maps to critical competencies.
- Collaborate with leadership at Regional and Local level to communicate training expectations.
- Oversee development/coordination of new hire training program.
- Oversee training communications and administration to ensure that MAF AP members are notified regarding training opportunities and requirements.
- Oversee review and audit of position based competency files in accordance with established requirements and timeframes to determine compliance and educational needs.
- Oversee training records administration and yearly review.
- Design and implement training feedback and training effectiveness measures to ensure quality review, outcome measurement, and continuous improvement of training materials and delivery.
- Track the training records of all MAF personnel in AP Regional team to ensure records are up-to-date and that all Regional MAF staff received required training appropriately
- Provide communications of core Regional training requirements, and support training delivery to ensure Country Medical Affairs personnel receive relevant information..
- Partner with other J&J affiliates to develop a more robust curriculum for MAF professionals, across the J&J pharmaceutical companies.
- Partner with other J&J companies to levarage training offerings, best practices and opportunities; optimize technology and policies; and ensure compliance.
- Partner with external Academic centers whenever appropriate
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- BS / BA degree required.
- Minimum 3-5 years Pharma industry experience and w/ competency in developing, delivering and tracking training across geographies, or organizations.
- Experience in performing training needs analyses, developing training strategies and other program management.
- Experience of developing and administering training programs within the pharmaceutical industries.
- Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing, documenting and auditing of processes including ability to translate new requirements into new or amended process proposals.
- Task oriented with proven experience in the delivery high quality work
- Fluency in English language required. Fluency in an Asian languages would be a plus (Chinese, Japanese, etc)
- Knowledge of international healthcare regulations and guideline
- Demonstrable proficiency in the design and delivery of training specifically within the pharmaceutical industry
- Knowledge of Training Effectiveness Measurement tools
- Strong communication and advanced presentation skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a complex and geographically wide spread organization.
- Strong work ethic, integrity and respect
- Interpersonal flexibility to effectively interact with a broad range of personnel in a cross-functional team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint) another tools required to develop training materials
LOCATION
Preferred to be based in Singapore, but other APAC locations may be considered. The role holder will be expected to be based in their current country of residence, within Asia-Pacific (as long as the location has easy access to travel/transportation and local hosting is available) No relocation support will be provided.
This is a regional role and is likely to involve extensive regional travel.
