Job Summary: The Collection Representative is primarily responsible for speaking with patients to collect payment on balances dues and establish payment arrangements. This position will screen patients for Medicaid eligibility and assist patients in completing Patient Financial Statements and making application for discounts available under the Health Systems’ Financial Assistance and Charity Care policy.  Additional responsibilities include identifying when patient’s have insurance coverage that is not on file, updating patient accounts for billing insurance, as appropriate.

Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education: Associate’s Degree

Required License: None

Preferred License: None

Required Experience: Minimum of two years experience; insurance follow-up, patient registration, billing and / or collections in a hospital, physician’s office, billing or collection agency

Preferred Experience: Minimum of two years experience; insurance follow-up, patient registration, billing and / or collections in a hospital, physician’s office, billing or collection agency.  Medical coding or insurance verification experience is a plus.
