Plans, directs, and controls the resources and efforts of staff to accomplish the account management and service objectives of a national WellPoint sales organization selling and/or renewing multiple lines of business. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Manages resources (people, material, and support) effectively and efficiently to support strategic sales goals. Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal Operational partners who service national customers in order to optimize performance.  Provides leadership in motivating subordinates to accomplish goals and objectives. Hires, trains, coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports. Develops a strong team through training and effective organizational development practices. Reports global issue status and progress to senior management.  Implements the policies, practices, and procedures of WellPoint and WellPoint organizations.  Assists in establishing service targets for the office and develops an effective goal setting process. Provides managerial support to account management staff.  Remains informed of various enhancements to the product lines offered by WellPoint to potential accounts. Participates in various training programs offered by WellPoint and/or outside organizations. Reports to a Director or RVP/Staff VP of Sales.

Requires a BA/BS and 5 years sales and/or account management experience in health care or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Good knowledge of health plan and specialty products; Proficient on funding mechanisms; Proven leadership and negotiation skills.
