The Oscar Mayer business unit is home to consumer favorites such as Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs, Oscar Mayer Cold Cuts, Oscar Mayer Bacon, Lunchables, Boca, and Claussen. Position Overview - CI Engineer
The CI Engineer position supports driving Continuous Improvement and Employee Engagement activities in the Unit and plant by leading/facilitating Integrated Lean 6-Sigma (our Total Productive Maintenance, or TPM program) tools and integrating them into the organization. Requires the facilitation of IL6S (TPM) events (Pilots and Replication), which includes developing and coordinating IL6S (TPM) training activity across all business units. Additional requirements include leading continuous improvement of the tools (5S, CIL, SMED, DMS), coaching all levels of the organization to support the plant employee engagement strategy, sustain the standards being developed, and measurement of success and progress via system health checks.
The CI Engineer will report to the Plant Continuous Improvement Manager (CI Mgr.) and will be the primary resource to support IL6S (TPM) activities in the Business Unit and Plant.
Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
- Schedule/organize/conduct all IL6S (TPM) training, lead Model and Pilot events
- Continuously coach all levels of the organization to sustain the tools
- Develop/Improve IL6S (TPM) training documents and tool kits
- Conduct internal assessments to ensure process health
- Benchmark IL6S (TPM) best practices in/out Plant to improve standards
- Support the DMS process as a team member and TPM ambassador
- Leading continuous improvement of tools (5S, CIL, SMED, DMS)
- Other training and/or team support as assigned
· BS/MS Degree in Industrial Engineer, Engineering, Food Sciences, Chemistry, Business, Statistics, or related field
· Minimum 3 years of IL6S (TPM) leadership experience in manufacturing operations environment
· Must be a IL6S (TPM) subject matter expert and capable of being the site owner for integrating IL6S (TPM) in the Plant
· Must be able to effectively lead and coach hourly team members in a large union manufacturing environment
· Must be able to work with and motivate employees at all levels of the organization and across all departments involved/affected by IL6S (TPM) change
· Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
· Must have strong organizational and project management skills
· Must have strong computer skills including strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
· Six Sigma Black Belt/Lean Certification a plus
