I searched for jobs in a specific state, but get a list of jobs in states besides the ones I chose. Why?
Answer
There is an option called "Include Nationwide Jobs" when you perform a search. This box is chosen by default in order to provide you with more results during a job search. You may avoid seeing jobs outside the states you chose by unchecking this box. It appears below the states list on the Search Jobs page.
If you perform a search using the Quick Job Search on the homepage, nationwide jobs will be included.
UPDATE:
As of 7/6/2004, "Include Nationwide Jobs" is no longer checked by default. You can still check it if you want to include nationwide jobs in your search results.
Quick Job Searches will not include nationwide jobs if you selected a location.
Personal Search Agents will not email you nationwide jobs if you selected any locations.
