Often these difficult times mean doing more with less as individuals take on duties from jobs that have been eliminated. The pressure may get to front-line workers and managers alike. In such times, should we accept and learn to work with difficult people because such characteristics may be part of who they are and thus considered diversity traits?

It is well known that the structure of the economy has evolved significantly since WWII, but the magnitude of the change is probably not as well understood as it should be. As the population has grown, so have most of the categories of jobs. The one glaring exception to this is Manufacturing, which has been in a secular decline since the late 1970s and was a slow growth sector even in the "golden years" of U.S. manufacturing -- the 1950s and 1960s.
Struggling to bring the economy to heel, President Barack Obama Monday pledged to accelerate job creation over the next three months. Obama, on his first working day after his journey to the Middle East and Europe, announced 10 new projects aimed at creating or saving more than 600,000 jobs through upgrades of parks, highways, veterans' medical facilities and airports.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it would add 22,000 workers to its payroll this year, as it aims to increase its U.S. retail outlets by up to 157 stores.
