Chrysler Hiring 400-500 To Boost Dart Production in IllinoisJan. 26, 2012 Brent Snavely

It also is the first to combine Fiat and Chrysler technology and is built on a widened and lengthened version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The Dart was revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this month and is scheduled to go on sale this spring. Chrysler has previously said it is studying whether it will need a third shift at the plant. Tinson declined to comment when asked whether Chrysler will add a third shift. Members of UAW Local 1268 could not be reached for comment . Chrysler announced that it plans to hold an event at the Belvidere plant next Thursday to celebrate the decision to produce the Dart at the plant and dedicate a new body shop. Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will both attend. Chrysler also makes the Jeep Compass and Patriot at the plant.
